And So It Begins...

Premiere Week is here!! While I have been enjoying a few USA offerings this summer, I am very excited that the fall season is finally upon us. Most "real" networks (not the CW) begin premiering their new and returning shows next week, but NBC is starting Parenthood tomorrow night at 10pm. If you don't watch this show, check it out. Aside from an amazing cast (Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Mae Whitman, Craig T. Nelson and Michael B. Jordan, just to name a few), this is an excellent ensemble family drama and if you were a B&S watcher, this may fill the void left by Sally Field, Calista Flockhart and others. Anyway, to catch you up on where we left off, here's a quick run-down on the Braverman family:

Sarah (Lauren Graham) wrote a play, helped by Richard Dreyfus, and it looks like it may be a success. But her daughter Amber (Mae Whitman) has decided that since she didn't get into college, she's going to do her own thing.

Adam (Peter Krause) was just laid off from his job at the sneaker factory because he was a little too old and stodgy for the new owner and when he comes home to tell his wife, Kristina (Monica Potter), she, in turn lays her news on him - she's pregnant. Their kids, Max (who has Aspberger's) and Haddie (who is dating Alex, played by Michael B. Jordan) have things going on as well. Max will be mainstreamed and Haddie recently started having sex with Alex (and had the misfortune of butt-dialing her mom in the heat of the moment).

Julia (Erika Christensen) wants to have another baby, even though Joel (Sam Jaeger) isn't so thrilled (although he is clearly enjoying all of Julia's attempts), but when she finds out that she can't, she tells Joel that she wants to adopt. You know that tension between Kristina and Julia will be evident in the premiere.

And finally, Crosby (Dax Shepard) bought a house in the hopes of winning back Jasmine (Joy Bryant) and living with her and son Jabbar.

Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia) complete the Braverman clan as Mom and Dad to Adam, Sarah, Julia and Crosby. Now that their marriage is stable, I'm sure they will have a part to play in each of their kids lives as the drama unfolds.

Based on various teasers, this season opens with Julia contemplating adopting the coffee cart lady's baby, Adam and Crosby opening a music studio together (Cee-Lo Green to guest star!) and Sarah seeing Jason Ritter again (since The Event was cancelled!).

See you all back here sometime later this week when I'll post my recap!
